Awrah or Awrat (Arabic: عورة) is a term used within Islam which denotes the intimate parts of the body, for both men and women, which must be covered with clothing. Exposing theawrah is unlawful in Islam and is regarded as sin.
The Awrah for a man refers to any part of the body between the navel and the knees.
The information was received from a member of the World League of Scholars of the Ahli Sunnah and ex-Mufti of the Kyrgyz Republic - Chubak azhy Zhalilov.
The navel and knees do not belong to the awrah but it is advisable to cover them in order to avoid accidental exposure of the awrah.
It is important to note there are differences of opinion among scholars regarding what constitutes the Awrah.
